I have been incredibly fortunate to have had a fascinating variety of professional and voluntary roles.
I had a whirlwind career in the hectic publishing world of Fleet Street; advocacy and policy roles in the voluntary sector; and fifteen years as a senior policy-maker at the Department of Health.
I have also gained great insights from a number of important voluntary roles including The Samaritans and supporting people through severe illness.
I have been a non-executive director of two national charities and am currently a Lay Member on the Governing Body of Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
I trained as a hypnotherapist at the highly regarded Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy.
- BSc (Hons) Psychology
- Certificate in Counselling
- Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD)
- NLP Practitioner
I was awarded an OBE in 2006 for services to patients and the public
I am a professional after-dinner speaker, fusing motivational inspiration (apparently!) and stand up comedy. I am an enthusiastic drummer and love delivering quizzes.
In 2019 I published my debut novel, Running Hard, published by Pegasus Publishers.
Throughout my career and voluntary work, and in everyday life too, I’ve observed people feeling stressed, run-down, sad, lonely, and sure that life is just not as good as it should or could be.
What is clear to me is that although people have the resources and solutions to change their lives, what’s missing are self-belief and the overwhelming power that comes from the belief of others.
I am sure that if someone takes the time to pay attention to you, is interested in you and cares about you, then you will feel better.
Not only will you feel better, you will be much more able to live your life in the way you want. I would be delighted to be that ‘someone’.
